KIDS' THURSDAYS!

at the Fabyan Villa Museum

 

Our extra-special Kids’ Days continue at the Fabyan Villa Museum this summer.  On six Thursdays a themed program will be featured at 2:00 p.m.

 

In addition to the Mystery family self-guided tours and Artifact Bingo featured every Thursday in June through August, the hands-on activity programs bring kids' closer to the fascinating world of the Fabyans!

 

Programs participation fee: $2.00 per child

Do you know how to write like an Egyptian? See if hieroglyphics can solve the mystery!

Take a trip back in time and learn how people lived.  Make old-fashioned snacks.

August 14th- Treasure Hunt:  You’ll never guess what’s waiting to be uncovered!  Look for clues to the location of the treasure around the Fabyan grounds.

Downtown Geneva, The Back Story -

Liz Safanda & Margaret Selakovich will team up again to take you on an exciting tour of Geneva’s downtown residential area. The stroll will begin at Dodson Place, near the fountain and head east to discover some  architectural treasures on First Street and River Lane. Margaret, the educator at the Geneva History Center, will focus on the historical “back story” of these sites, with Liz providing commentary on diverse architectural  styles.

For 150 years, thrifty and resourceful Genevans have “moved house,” quite literally.  This Thursday evening discovery tour will focus on 7 of the over 100 buildings that switched places over the years in an admirable effort to recycle some of our town’s most important resources.  The tour will set off promptly  from the corner of  Third & South Street …. so that we can cover our 8 block route before the sun sets.

Admission:

Summer Frolic!

Sunday August 10th, 1-5 p.m.

An afternoon of old-fashioned fun... Festivities include: Petting Zoo, "1840s Surveyor" Program, Children's Corner with 19th Century Toys, Skilled Artisans Demonstrating their Crafts, a Cake Walk, Live Music, and plenty of Frolicking!

Families are encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy the beautiful LeRoy Oakes Forest preserve. Homemade cookies, scones, lemonade and other refreshments will be sold.

 It's an old-fashioned pickle party! Durant House docents will explain and demonstrate the art of pickling produce from an 1800's homestead.
