Winter Walk Tours in the Fabyan Japanese Garden

Join Preservation Partners staff for the annual guided Winter Walks through the Fabyan Japanese Garden. A donation of $2 per person is requested. As snow-covered ground is necessary for the tour, please call (630)377- 6424 on the day of to confirm tour status. The tour begins at the west garden gate.
The guided Winter Walk includes history of the Fabyan’s Japanese garden along with facts about Japanese gardens in all seasons! Get a glimpse into the past from photos from our historic collection and enjoy a hot drink. Be sure to bring your camera for some amazing winter photos. For driving directions please click here.
Fireside Fun at the Durant House Museum

Take a step back in time as the Durant House Museum hosts their annual Fireside Fun event. It is a great time and sure way to beat cabin fever! Admission to the event is $2 for adults and $1 for children between the ages of three and twelve. No registration is needed for the event.
Visitors of all ages can enjoy playing many popular 19th century games like Nine Mens Morris, checkers and skittles and take part in other activities around the house. Visitors will also be able to tour the house, guided by authentically costumed docents and enjoy warming up by the hearth. Visitors may also tour the Pioneer Sholes School which is located in eye sight of the Durant House.
The Durant House Museum and Pioneer Sholes School are located within the LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve. The entrance to the preserve is at 37W370 Dean Street, about a half mile west of Randall Road in St. Charles.
