Treasure Hunt at Fabyan

  • Fabyan Villa Museum 1925 S. Batavia Ave Geneva United States (map)

Solve codes and riddles to find the “treasures” left by Colonel & Nelle Fabyan!

With a treasure map in hand, explore Colonel George and Nelle Fabyan’s former estate, Riverbank (now the Fabyan Forest Preserve).

Pick up your map and first clue at the Fabyan Villa Museum, which is approximately a 1/2 mile walk from the parking lot (see parking location and map here). Then solve each code or riddle to find out where the next one is located. Each group will have a different starting point. BE CAREFUL: The answers must be found in the correct order. If you follow another group, you may solve the clues in the wrong order, and the Fabyans' "treasures" will not be found!

Volunteers will be available from 12-3 PM throughout the Forest Preserve to provide hints to any clues.

Expect to walk about 2 miles throughout the preserve. The treasure hunt is ideal for families or couples. All children must be supervised.

The cost is $10 for the map. Only one map is required for groups of 10 or fewer. More maps may be purchased if you wish.

PICK UP YOUR MAP AT THE FABYAN VILLA MUSEUM BY 2PM!

Arrive at the Fabyan Villa Museum between 12 and 2 PM to pick up your map and first clue. Volunteers will be available to help with clues from 12-3 PM. Expect the Treasure Hunt to take about 1-1/2 hours. Bring walking shoes and water, and be sure to dress for the weather.

PLEASE NOTE: This experience is meant to be a fun outdoor activity only. The Treasure Hunt at Fabyan is about finding all the clues in order on your map. There is no real treasure to be found.

The Fabyan Villa Museum is operated by Preservation Partners of the Fox Valley through a contractual agreement with the Forest Preserve District of Kane County.
