SPONSOR A STORM

Help us replace our storm windows!

As the second phase of the exterior repairs to the Beith House, we are asking for sponsors for the complete replacement of the house’s 16 storm windows.

Why do the storm windows need to be replaced?

  • Storm windows protect the historic windows.

  • Storm windows, when sealed well, improve the thermal performance of the house, reducing heating and cooling costs.

  • The Beith House’s storm windows are experiencing varying degrees of deterioration, some in need of immediate attention.

What needs to be done?
Each storm window will be removed, and custom storms will be fabricated out of weather-resistant, old-growth African Mahogany. The new storms will match the existing ones and will be reinstalled—and sealed to help with thermal performance.

Why such a fancy wood?
African Mahogany has a tighter grain than other commercially available woods. Additionally, African Mahogany has a natural resistance to rot. Together, that means that African Mahogany will last longer and perform better than any wood that can be purchased at your local hardware store or lumber yard.

When will this project occur?
That depends on you! As storm window sponsorships come through, we will contract with our carpenter to build the new ones. We are hoping that we can have the 5 most deteriorated windows rebuilt and reinstalled by the Spring of 2024. The rest will follow based on donations.

Each window has been prioritized based on need from one being most urgent to 3 being least urgent.

How much does a sponsorship cost?
First-floor storm windows are $925 each and second-floor storms are $850. BONUS: if you sponsor a window, you’ll receive this cute Beith window replica ornament as our thanks!

If you would like to donate to the project but are unable to sponsor an entire storm, we certainly appreciate partial donations!
